THANK YOU to all who made the festival a great success!!! Year after year, great devotion is shown to our parish in terms of volunteering and this festival weekend certainly helps to    reveal that great devotion. We have much to be thankful for as a parish community. Thanks to Bill and Sharon Brickman and the whole festival committee who spent months in preparation, and all of the volunteers who helped provide for such a great weekend that supports our parish in so many ways.

On Wednesday is the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. He is founder of the Jesuits and a master of the spiritual life who helped gift the Church “The Discernment of Spirits” – a spiritual pathway of coming to know the voice of God more powerfully. Here is a good quote from him:“God freely created us so that we might know, love, and serve him in this life and be happy with him forever. God’s purpose in creating us is to draw forth from us a response of love and service here on earth, so that we may attain our goal of everlasting happiness with him in heaven. All the things in this world are gifts of God, created for us, to be the means by which we can come to know him better, love him more surely, and serve him more faithfully. As a result, we ought to appreciate and use these gifts of God insofar as they help us toward our goal of loving service and union with God. But insofar as any created things hinder our progress toward our goal, we ought to let them go.”

We are very grateful to Sandy Vitale who will retire from her position as business manager this Friday. It goes without saying that Sandy has done much to help grow our parish over the years in many different areas. Please keep Sandy in your prayers as she transitions out of the business office and moves into a well-deserved retirement.
