On August 31st/September 1st, we will welcome our new priest, Fr. Apolinary Kavishe. After all the Masses there will be a light reception in the chapel to meet and greet Fr. Kavishe. Please pray for him as he prepares for his move from Bangor, Maine to here in Parma. I talked with him on the phone last week and he is a very kind man and loves walking with people as a priest.
Next weekend we will have a missionary priest from India, Fr. Jimil Jose, VC, join us to share about his mission with the Vincentian Congregation and give an appeal for their ministry in India. Thanks ahead of time for your support for Fr. Jose.
Here’s a quote from Pope Benedict XVI on the Solemnity of the Assumption. Reminder that there is no 7pm Vigil Mass for the feast:
“While she lived on this earth she could only be close to a few people. Being in God, who is close to us, actually, “within” all of us, Mary shares in this closeness of God. Being in God and with God, she is close to each one of us, knows our hearts, can hear our prayers, can help us with her motherly kindness and has been given to us, as the Lord said, precisely as a “mother” to whom we can turn at every moment.”
